Intervals.icu is a free, powerful training analytics platform. It syncs with Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Wahoo, COROS, Huawei, and more through Strava or direct connections. ICU Coach reads your data from Intervals.icu to provide AI-powered coaching.

Open ICU Coach and tap "Sign in with Intervals.icu". You'll be redirected to the Intervals.icu OAuth consent screen where you authorize access. Once approved, your data syncs automatically. It takes less than 30 seconds.

Any device that syncs to Intervals.icu: Garmin, Polar, Suunto, Wahoo, COROS, Huawei, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Amazfit, Apple Watch, and more. If your watch connects through Strava or TrainingPeaks, it works.

BYOK means you provide your own AI API key (Google Gemini or OpenAI). This gives you unlimited AI requests at the cost of your own API usage. It's the most cost-effective option for power users.

Cloud AI: No setup needed — we handle everything on our servers. You get 50 requests/day. BYOK: You enter your own Gemini or OpenAI API key and get unlimited requests. BYOK is cheaper long-term; Cloud is easier to set up.

Recovery Pro is our science-based recovery engine. It tracks 3 systems (Metabolic, Neuromuscular, Hormonal) and uses a 21-day rolling percentile gate to determine when you should rest. It can override AI coaching recommendations to protect you from overtraining.

Yes. Your Intervals.icu connection uses secure OAuth 2.0 — we never see your password. AI API keys (if using BYOK) are stored in your device's secure enclave (iOS Keychain / Android KeyStore). We never store your training data on our servers. AI requests are processed in real-time and not logged. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Running, Cycling, and Swimming. Auto Coach generates sport-specific workouts for all three. Activity Analysis works with any activity type recorded in Intervals.icu (including yoga, strength, etc.).

Coaches subscribe to a Coach plan, then create invite links from the ICU Coach app. Athletes click the invite link, authorize via Intervals.icu OAuth, and join the coach's team. Coaches can manage their roster from the app or the web dashboard at connect.icucoach.app/dashboard.

Yes. Athletes can disconnect at any time from connect.icucoach.app/manage or from the ICU Coach app's Settings screen under "My Coaches". When disconnected, the coach immediately loses access to your data.

When you delete your profile from the ICU Coach app, the connection is automatically revoked. If you need to manually remove it: go to Intervals.icu → Settings → Apps, find ICU Coach, and click Revoke.
